Simon Chard’s aesthetic toolkit
Simon Chard shares the products and equipment he couldn’t live without in his aesthetic dental practice
For the last five years I have been using digital dentistry almost every day. I now use my Cerec for restorative, orthodontic, and implant dentistry and really couldn’t live without it.
Lecturing on digital dentistry is one of the best parts of my job as I am super passionate about it.
Canon digital macro photography set up
I use a Canon 80d with Canon 100mm L series lens and a twin flash set up.
I am a huge advocate of dental photography; there are so many benefits to documenting your work.
Ipad Pro and Apple Pencil
I use my massive Ipad every day for consultations. I take photographs of my patients, upload them directly onto the Ipad and then, using the Apple Pencil, I can draw on the images and explain things to patients in a very transparent way.
Cosmedent composite brushes
I love cosmetic bonding: it’s one of my favourite procedures to carry out and I honestly couldn’t do it without these brushes. I use them in combination with wetting resin and it creates invisible dentistry that my patients love.
Univet 5x loupes and light
In my opinion, every dentist should be using magnification. I love these loupes; I jumped from 3x to 5x last year and have seen a noticeable improvement in the accuracy of my work.
